It’s been quite a month. There was a late surge of activity in December and we finished 2010 with 232 members. Not too shabby considering we’ve had another 100+ members join in the first two weeks of 2011! Things are really starting to ramp up, so keep spreading the word.

We’ve also seen FoldingStory really begin to blossom as a community. There have been a number of amazing stories and lines, new friendships have started forming, and NixonBlack even suggested we host a FoldCon so users can meet in person. Wow! To hear such a positive response less than 12 months after we started this site is really inspiring. We love that you love FoldingStory and we’ll keep working to make it better.

Announcements

COMING (REALLY) SOON

We’re putting the final touches on some of the new features we teased in last month’s newsletter. We were hoping they’d be ready by now but you know how it is with the holidays, the families, the cheer. We’re really excited about these new features and we think they will help make the site easier to use and bring the FoldingStory community even closer together.

24,000 PAGE VIEWS IN DECEMBER

Are you serious? That is awesome. There’s not much else to say about it. Thanks for visiting, and visiting, and visiting!

COMMUNITY FEEDBACK

We’d like to thank those of you who have taken the time to email us with suggestions for the site, to inform us of stuff that isn’t working properly, or to alert us when trolls are lurking about. We love folding stories with you, but between programming and testing, sometimes we don’t get to fold as often as we’d like. We really count on your emails for feedback about the folding experience, so please keep them coming.

Featured Fold & Story

This month’s Featured Fold was submitted by kenobi, who channeled the late, great Leslie Nielsen and capped off the story nicely with, “…to know how to handle this crate. ‘Everybody buckle up and put your head between your legs.’ I flipped a couple of important looking switches. ‘And don’t call me Shirley.’” Well done kenobi! Surely you’ll want to read the full story. Want to check out more great folds and see how yours stack up? Check out our Top Folds page.

If you thought a dead cell phone battery was the worst part of your day, this month’s Featured Story proves otherwise. Check out “If ever there was a time to use his cell phone, this was it…
