May Day, Law Day, Lei Day. May 1st is a day of celebration no matter where you live. Some people dance around a maypole, some celebrate International Workers' Day, but in the U.S., we officially celebrate Law Day (who knew?). And in Hawaii, May 1st is Lei Day, a celebration of traditional Hawaiian culture. Apparently the distress call "mayday" has nothing to do with any May 1st holiday.

Newsletter Hiatus

As you may have noticed, there was no newsletter last month. We've come to realize that a monthly newsletter may not be necessary (and some people may find it annoying, despite our best efforts to make it enjoyable). We've decided to move the Featured Fold and Featured Story announcements to our Twitter feed, so we can share great stories more effectively. Don't worry, the site isn't going anywhere and we'll still send a newsletter to inform you of important FoldingStory developments.

Featured Fold & Story

Member smoalne adds a touch of dark humor and Irish flair in this month's Featured Fold: "…had been coming out green as of late, but that was ok since st. patricks day was fast approaching. placing the lute on a nail by the staircase, she drags the bodies by their legs…" If you want to know how this green food fared in the Iron Chef competition, you have to read the whole story.

This month's Featured Story is either brilliant or you were just too lazy to think up more words. We think the former, but regardless, it's a fun read, so enjoy!
