It was a dark, rainy night. Everyone in the village was asleep. There was silence all around, except for the occasional singing of an owl. But then, suddenly, there was a loud

snap, as of some immense predator stepping on a fallen branch and breaking it, and all the village was certainly awake then, motionless and listening hard to the silence that

came from the forest. Often the night would be punctuated by the call of crickets and mating frogs, but now, dead silence. The village then heard a giant whisper, "Sneaky, sneaky."

The village residents were never more frightened or afraid... save for the intrepid child, Jesaija, who with swift feet, carried a torch into the forest like the IJN to Singapore.

He knew how to forage and find food that was simply there. He also knew how to hunt and cook wild birds for survival. There was a sense of being in the void-unconfortable for most
