- His eyes were open, dead to the world and reflecting nothing but the flies that climbed on them. I started to close them, like in the movies, but stopped at one. I liked winking.
- But intermittent complete winking which requires the lid to pop open again. This wasn't going to work. I attached his eye lid to his car's windshield wipers. Winking time is here
- and my anus quivered in anticipation. Which reminded me: I needed to get that thing checked out next time I went to the
- mechanics for a tune up. Charlie the Lube Man was both a skilled repairman and proctologist. At one point, Charlie found some large ball bearings clanking around in my
- colon & asked whether I meant for them to be up there. Honestly, I still can't recall how those ballbearings ended up there, but I told Charlie just to leave them & check my piston
- for rust. I'd been putting it some pretty strange places of late and the last thing I needed was a rusty piston. Charlie gripped it, turning it slowly over in his hand. Looks like
- this engine needs to be rebuilt. Not what Charlie had wanted. He thought a new fuel pump would get the old beast running, but now he sees that
- the bee hive in the air intake was the real problem. As he went to clean it out, the bees became enraged and encircled Charlie's head and chased him to
- the door of the bomb shelter. Decision time. Enter with the bees, or endure the slow, painful death from the radioactive atmosphere.
- Either way was going to hurt. I chose the bees. I hope for some honey before I die.
