Walking on the narrow water trench she felt
- Walking on the narrow water trench she felt her nape frying, a May day couldn't be hotter. It wasn't the most usual thing to be excited, uneasy and nauseous all at the same time.
- She covered her neck, and continued her walk, whistling as she went. She noticed something in the water trench: a small fish. She named it Arnold and it swam beside her as she
- walked along. "I feel like I've done this before," she told Arnold. The fish looked up at her. "You have. You're stuck in a time loop! To get out, you have to swallow me whole!"
- She rolled her eyes and asked, "Oh my cod, Arnold. Does that ever 'eely work?" Arnold gave her a roeful glance. "Seriously though, you should come over and see my plaice later."
- I wanted Arnold to see my plaice for the Halibut. I wanted to cuttle with Arnold. It was a tail of love. He had me hook line and sinker. I floundered to find the right words.
- Anyway Arnold almost immediately burst into song. He was very off key. Apparently you can tune a piano, a guitar, or a car but you cannot tuna fish. I felt crappie for him
- , so I let him off the hook. I should never have complimented Arnold's singing. Now he wanted to do karaoke every night at Landlubbers Bar. Being a fish, Arnold sang songs like
- the way a bird swims, not very well. But he was my friend and I didn't want to hurt his feelings. The truth is, he was a very wise fish and I often asked his opinion on things.
- "Bernard," I sighed to my fish, "You know Johnny Bennett, from third period History? Light of my life? Today he was talking to that fucking girl Cindy Anawog, and it's like, I thou
- Ght we had something speciaI. We were friends last night you know? Maybe I'll just kill her. She won't talk to Johnny then." And with that, she walked out the door to Cindys house.
