I remember my Mom put me to bed, turned off

  • I remember my Mom put me to bed, turned off the light, kissed me on the forehead and whispered in my ear, "Never, ever trust a puppet."
  • There had been an ongoing distrust of puppets in my family going back four generations to great uncle Hickory and the puppet fiasco of 1798.
  • In 1798 a plague of European Wood Boreing Mites invaded the puppets which then spread to the theatre houses and caused horrific damage. Actors would break legs when they fell throu
  • gh the floors of tanning salons. But the termite epidemic was saddest of all in the Geppetto house. His wooden boy woke up with his legs totally gone. Even when the fairy godmother
  • arrived with her "fairy dust" (at a reasonable $300/oz.) Gepetto was not consoled. Still, he retrieved the mirror from beneath the couch and set it on the table. Legless Pinnochio
  • Struggled to sit on the couch without looking like a dog. The "fairy dust" came in exquisitely decorated jars, with equally lovely floral designs on the labels. Gepetto looked at
  • his collection of empty fairy dust jars piling up & knew it was time to get help for his growing addiction. Glancing at the facility contract, he signed his name simply, "Gepetto."
  • The nurse immediately escorted Gepetto through the locking doors and into the rehab welcome area. Rapunzel greeted him. Her hair was fried due to hair care product addiction. She
  • smoked ganja and her prince was her pusher. Then there was Goldilocks who had a severe case of kleptomania, but when they brought Gepetto to visit Pinocchio,
  • the truth came out: that were all characters, alright, each with a different story! The judge threw the book at them. Don't like the end of this sordid tale? Time to GROW UP!

Heh, the puppet theme was present throughout the whole story. I'm impressed!
