Phoebe pursed her lips as Ernie mansplained
- Phoebe pursed her lips as Ernie mansplained how to mend her gas meter box with gaffer tape. The setting sun hung low in the sky and spread pink light over the grimy box attached to
- nothing... nothing now. The house just disappeared. there was nothing the box was attached to. Ernie kept going, typical of him not to notice anything. However, Phoebe, oh Phoebe,
- Phoebe stopped to stare at the lawn. She was sure she saw something moving. Phoebe always had an eye for detail, which turned out to be her undoing. Coming out of the grass slowly
- a small figure with beady eyes stared right into her soul. Phoebe couldn't resist the urge she felt to inch towards the figure.
- As she walked closer, Phoebe felt as if all the layers and masks she wore to fit in polite society fell off. They lay discarded behind her, and the small figure encouraged her to
- step into the light. "Am I dead?" Phoebe asked the small figure, but it only beckoned her further. Phoebe backed up and tried to retrieve all of her disguises, but they had melted.
- The light in the distance pulsed. The small figure leading Phoebe pointed for her to go in. "I've seen poltergeist." she stumbled back. Then a large hand pushed her into the light
- where a giant disco ball suddenly appeared & hung in midair. Phoebe turned and as the poltergeist drifted toward her, she could see it was dressed in a black hoodie & sunglasses
- Saying, "The more you ignore me, the closer I get." She sprayed mace on the poltergeist and killed it. She left and went home, and the police were never called. No poltergeist ever
- dared to cross paths with her ever again.
