The door was there but I wasn't.

  • The door was there but I wasn't.
  • It was a gateway to a different dimension. Was that door always there? I wondered. I slid my hands over the ornately carved wood and touched the sizeable knocker shaped like a
  • sagging testicle. Such an odd shape for a knocker, but I knew Grandpa in heaven would appreciate it. I knocked three time and suddenly
  • the door swung wide open. I peered into the dusky house interior, but no-one was there to greet me. "Excuse me," I called. "Hello?" Anybody home?"
  • "In the kitchen!" came a cry. The unfamiliar voice was barely a rasp, low and distant, yet it felt like the speaker were whispering in my ear. I shuddered. A shiver ran through me.
  • "Quick!" the voice commanded. I got out of my sheets and my senses are on alert. Slowly, I walked with light feet towards the corridor. What lies before me, has an air of mystery.
  • The light was unrealistic, it seemed human like. I didn't know what to say. It seemed to bark a command, but I couldn't hear it, I just knew somehow. Suddenly, I blacked out.
  • When I came to, the light had rearranged itself into something resembling my aunt Mildred. She appeared to be reading a philosophy book, as usual, but her eyes seemed unfocused.
  • Then the Aunt Mildred phantasm put down her book and shifted her butt uncomfortably on the chair cushion. It spoke: “Sheldon, I have to use the bathroom but don’t have any
  • money for the public toilet, and there is only one page of the Sears Catalog left in the outhouse. My panties are as stiff as a board. Wait a minute. It was gas. Never mind”.
