  • His dog Rex had been missing two days. His dish sat untouched on the kitchen floor.
  • He just couldn't bring himself to eat from it. Rex had been his buddy. He put up posters around town and asked around at the local shelters about whether anyone had spotted him.
  • No one had seen Rex. He wracked his brain trying to think of what else he could do to find him. Shelters, check, posters, check. He decided to contact some veterinarian offices and
  • ask around. "Have you seen Rex?" he asked. "He's 15, lanky, really loves cats." This was often met with confusion, to which he would clarify that Rex is, indeed, his human brother.
  • He understood the confusion, naturally. Rex was, after all, a popular name for a pet. "I seem to have lost track of him just past the subway station."

  • run him over before I found him. "Rex! Rex!" I called into the darkness. At first I heard nothing. Then, very faintly I heard him barking. He was driving the red line subway car
  • right into the city. "Rex! Rex, you can't drive!" I panicked thinking who on Earth would allow a dog to drive a subway car until I saw the unconscious body of the licensed driver
  • who had been overcome by the fumes of the sriracha sauce. Rex just wanted to get home to go walkies and he wasn't about to let a narcoleptic Subway delivery guy stop him. BarkWoof.
