- The Mormons had taken to a new mission after trotting the globe. Other species. Ted the Mormon had been assigned to be a missionary to all mollusks. This was not going to be
- a traditional mission. Ted respected his future converts oyster culture, let bivalves be bivalves. But Ted was preaching to closed shells, except for Ollie who was completely nacred
- . "Mighty mother-of-pearl! How embarrassing," exclaimed Ollie, while looking around for his girlfrond Molly. "Hey - don't clam up on me now, just because I'm not a musselman!"
- "You're just so shellfish!" yelled Molly. Ollie had the feeling that that joke had probably been said before, but knew better than to say it. By then, Molly had withdrawn into her
- shell. Molly was rather weird. Why she lived in a shell was beyond anybody's comprehension, really. That, plus her overused jokes. Maybe she was raised in
- an aquarium of sorts. Her mantra was "When life gives you lemons, crawl in your shell", which was fitting, for Molly was the only girl I'd ever known with a shell, hell, the only
- girl he'd ever talked to. "I think you should come out of your shell more," he said, stroking it supportively. "I can't," Molly replied, "it's attached." Her shell nacreously glimm
- ered beneath the false moon and she twisted away from his touch. "I want a real lover, beneath a real moon, on a real world," she snarled, but then she noticed how fragile he was,
- It was almost as if by one touch, he would shatter. His prensce gave her a comfort she had not felt in a while. With in that one look, her whole view changed. She needed him.
- "I want you," he whispered. "To want me." And he meant it. "I need you," she replied. "To need me." He smiled. "I'd love you to love me," he nuzzled her neck. And she did.

"Let bivalves be bivalves" has entered my lexicon and will take it for a test drive.

Will be interested to see what destinations you reach with that phrase. :-)
