What a stupid thing, Fate. The fact that

  • What a stupid thing, Fate. The fact that this guy, whose head was about to be blown off by me, would start lecturing me about it, was just unbelievable! Fate was a stupid thing.
  • I shot the guy in the head, except as fate would have it, the gun misfired, exploded in my hand. My ears rang and he jumped up and down laughing saying, "I told you! I Told you
  • ..." He stopped there, eyes widening, as he watched a new hand almost immediately regenerate at my bloody stump. I grinned at his stunned & stupid face. "Blimey, dude! Your hand
  • just grew back!" "It's the family curse," I said. "Curse? Why?" I rolled up my trousers, showing him a gangrenous leg. "Couldn't amputate. It grew back, exactly the same."
  • It really wasn't fair. The family curse-- unless we were killed outright, we would regenerate, and every wound would be inflicted again, or rather, there was no way to heal it.
  • Then we found out that for $19.99 we could buy pills from China that would recombine our DNA with whatever we chose from the included checklist. This would end our family curse!
  • So I set off immediately to China, only a few miles away, and got me some pills. Dad was the first to try one, and he decided to mix his DNA with that of a baboon, we watched with
  • binoculars as Dad's DNA was slowly replaced with that of a baboon. "I'm gonna take a pill and become a Dolphin!" Jimmy announced. Meanwhile Dad
  • was riding a dolphin he'd found quickly after Johnny announced his species change. People thought Johnny would be jealous, but someone found a husk on the beach. It was Johnny.
  • Who changed but people were always going to make him the outsider. So why not drink from the husk and see what happened.

The husk was an useful thing to drag along in a post-apocalyptic scenario; it could be inflated to use as a bed, or utilized as water storage. Worse case scenario, it'd make a mighty fine jumpsuit.
