One morning, the pilot got into his seat

  • One morning, the pilot got into his seat in the airplane and noticed something wasn't quite right.

  • Was this a new model? The control panel had been slimmed down to a small number of indicators & in place of a joystick there was a steering wheel & he felt a pedal under his foot!

  • Ok, they revamped this jet fighter a bit, no sweat- he thought. But when the enemy ace came into his crosshairs & he hit the red button, it only emitted a loud honking sound. WTF?!

    2
  • His only thoughts were of Kenny Loggins and that song from Top Gun as an enemy fighter swooped down on his, tearing out the blades in his engines with a hail of bullets.

  • The idea of his gray beard and the old chicken roasters establishment made him feel wistfully nostalgic for a simpler time when he wasn't in the sky being shot at. Memories.

    2
  • If only he could go back to the glory days of eating roast chicken for every meal. He sighed wistfully as he day-dreamed. He snapped out of it when he realised he was plummeting.

  • The dreams of his roast chicken days had made him forget that he had fallen out of an airplane only moments ago. He seemed to be falling towards the coast of Costa Rica. He could

    2
  • lean into it and use the thermals off the rock abutment to rest his wings and surveil the land. There he was mixing his roast chicken brain with his sky diving human brain.

  • Closing his eyes, he rested his hand-feathers on his beak and began to meditate on flight school. (His father had pushed him out of the nest). "I am like a mighty eagle!" he cried

    2
  • with frightful vehemence. And in doing so, he had spooked his father. With razor-sharp beak, the father dove down and chased him as if possessed, cutting him down in midair.
