The day the Shunned struck back, a checkout

  • The day the Shunned struck back, a checkout scanner sneered at Mildred Dowd and said "Your record is too clean. We don't serve Squeakies like you." Mildred had her sword-cane, but

  • she didn't want to resort to that just yet. She tried to explain that she had never been caught before, and that was why her record was clean. The checkout scanner frowned, Mildred

    4
  • cracked a smile and giggled, to convince the cashier she wasn't serious. "Well all except for that one time," Mildred blurted, "but I was just a kid. And I gave it right back!"

  • The cashier wasn't taking any chances, though, and shoved the cash drawer toward Mildred. All those 10s & 20s!! Although it was never her intention, Mildred took the money & ran!

  • Through an act of Karma, she tripped and fell almost as soon as she took her first step. We had to rush her to the hospital. She broke both of her hips. Happily she didn't make it.

  • Sadly she was sent to Hell. In Hell, she was "low man on the totem pole." Her first job was to take Cerberus for a walk. That required a lot of plastic bags to pick up his poop.

  • She threw a frisbee over Hell's Gate. As predicted, Cerberus chased after it, knocking over the Gate in the process. She made her escape with some badass skulls in her plastic bag.

  • The skulls were going to be her ticket to a life on Astral Earth by proving her allegiance to the Gray Angels

    4
  • secret society, the Eldritch Witches of the Dead Moors who'd surely fancy my stack of skulls. Astral Earth was on a parallel plane to Alternate Earth sandwiched between Meta Earth

    3
  • and Beta Earth, which was like Alpha Earth but less assertive. I ultimately decided that I liked the witches and shipped my mystic skulls to their listed address on Astral Earth.
