Tesla took another swig absinthe. One more

  • Tesla took another swig absinthe. One more twist of the brass screw, and his Earthquake Machine would be complete. There was a knock on the door, "Maid service!"

  • The chambermaid entered & began to tidy Tesla's suite. "Oh, there's a loose screw here!" she chimed. "WAIT!!! DON'T TUR...!!" KRAACK...BOOOM!!! The earthquake device was a success.

  • The room began to shake with a violence never before seen on this planet. Tesla struggled to stay upright as he stumbled across to the maid, grabbed the device and turned it off.

  • "Please don't touch things" Tesla scolded "everything here has a purpose and power beyond the understanding of most, you nearly destroyed the whole city by messing with thing.."

  • Tesla, though very crass, was just worried. You see, he was working on a way to create power. Not just any power, but infinite power. The city was the first test case.

  • Nobody really missed Vegas anyway, and the way it lit up at the end was somehow fitting:the arccing discharge between the buildings was like a gaudy neon display. Next Tesla tried

  • the squid, which he found to be excellent. Many thought he was mad but few could deny the genius of ordering seafood from halfway around the world as a last meal. Tesla slurped

  • the squid's innards up a silly straw. Nikola Telsa's hijinks would have to wait, for the door opened, and in walked the executioner: Nikola Tesla

  • & his band of Merry Men. "I'm here to execute any persons (or squids) with a name oddly similar to mine, using my mighty coil which I named after myself." Tesla's men grabbed Telsa

  • And forced him to change his name to Jakov Bolotin. He said it was like an adventure to legally become someone he was not. Telsa signed his new name in strawberry scented ink.

Based on a true story! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla's_oscillator

    So THAT's why Vegas disappeared!

Try adding an apostrophe after "Tesla" in the www address if you are unable to reach the wikipedia page mentioned by Chaz. It's funny that one of the stories is that the device had a laxative effect.

So far on FS there is only one other Tesla story which is also quite fun, here it is: http://foldingstory.com/q3m0w/

Apparently does not recognize apostrophe. Just type address. Apologies for all the attempts.

  9. SlimWhitman Apr 22 2016 @ 18:07

It's funny that the www's addresses allow apostropes - and that wikipedia's folks use them, isn't it?

"A post trophy" for SlimWhitman for finding this out :)
