"Son, I've started more stories than you've

  • "Son, I've started more stories than you've even added to. Heck, I was folding stories back when you were picking music for your Myspace page." "Yes, but just look at my Avg. Score
  • and my follower-to-following ratio. And there's a reason all your stories are lying dormant, Gramps - they're lame." "You fledgling punk! Respect your veteran folders."
  • Gramps & I just sit on the porch rocking slowly, shaking our heads. "In our day," Gramps said to me, "We had more than ten folds a story!" "I don't trust this newfangled 'aging'."
  • Yep, Gramps also told us that he invented post-it-notes, &has the KFC secret recipe sewn in2 his mink coated magic top hat. Crazyold man. But I wanted to get the real FS History.
  • Gramps may not be a reliable source to get the real foldingstory history. I need to go to someone who I could trust, someone who has never told a lie, someone with a beard, Jesus.
  • Then again, Abe Lincoln has a quasi-beard and was apparently trustworthy. But that damn stove-top hat he wore made me question some of his fashion choices, so could I trust him?
  • But Abe Lincoln just looked at me in silence. He was not a people pleaser, he didn't care if I trusted him. That was good enough for me. I said, "Let's kill some bloodsuckers Abe
  • ." "I'm in," replied Abe Lincoln with no hesitation, "But just remember that Iā€™m the big buck of this lick. If any of you want to try it, come on and whet your horns.ā€ I was impres
  • sed with his beard, the sonorous voice & twinkle in his eye. The old stovepipe hat had worked its magic and the Lincoln Statue was alive. "Son, your jaws dropped so low I can see
  • for miles and miles. I can see for miles and miles. I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles. Oh yeah!

I like how the magic top hat already shows up in line 4. Nice quote from PurpleProf. Some interesting facts about Honest Abe here: http://www.history.com/news/10-things-you-may-not-know-about-abraham-lincoln

My fold was influenced by my initial query about the specific differences between "aging", "dormant" and "fledgeling". I checked the blog and the twitter. I'm guessing aging is overall time since the story was started, dormant is the longest time since being added to, and fledgeling consists of the newest stories regardless of how recently they were updated?

Love that song, LucieLucie...and how you used it to end the story. There's that word again: "aging" ...in GB's fold. Glad you noticed that quote, Mr. SlimWhitman! Yes...interesting how the hat in CrazyBanana's fold reappeared later....and that its "magic" was mentioned in your fold!

I thought there was a glitch and that your comments in the other story were meant to respond to this one.

Ha! No, I'm just very aware of the term "aging" these days...but have to say that "aging" is better than "dormant."

I was planning on typing Abe Lincoln, but ran out of characters, so I switched it to Jesus. Glad Wildom got it back on track.

GreenBanana, you are absolutely correct about the new sorting options on the Add page: freshly folded - newest stories by last-fold date dormant - oldest stories by last-fold date fledgling - newest stories by story creation date aging - oldest stories by story creation date
