the ability to live and work in a better place than where they were born. The US, while troubled in many ways and decried by many, still represents the closest thing to a fair

weather friend. Show up when things are good, bounce when the money is all gone. That's alright, I'm turning myself into the local authorities this November. But before I do,

I wanted to finish the novel I'd started over 15 years ago. It started as an homage to the beat generation writers, but morphed to a sci-fi/romcom set it 3067. LSD saw me through

the thick of it, those 483 pages between chapters 1 and 57. I never write a second draft. That's how you lose the magic. I'm quite confident that this is the Great American Novel.
