  • 'Near mercy' (in much the same way that 'near miss' signifies a miss) = 'Mercenary'. Coincidence? Perhaps. But to yeasayers, I tell the story of Barry the Mercenary Canary. He flew

    4
  • north, toward the Land of the Call. Barry the Mercenary Canary didn't know just what the Call was, but he had his contract, and he wasn't about to

    1
  • let this delicious brunch buffet ruin his chance to seek his reward. Barry the Mercenary Canary jumped into his Dodge Ares

    2
  • Angry Bird that he was, he shifted into high gear. Barry Canary knew his mission. He had a hit against those porcine boars and their houses made of sticks and bricks and hay.

    3
  • Steal his eggs would they? Barry was going to get himself some green ham on toast. As he flew crashing through the wall in pure rage he saw the trembling snout of Sam, his nemesis

    4
  • who now referred to himself as Sam Iambic Pentameter. Sam said, “I took your eggs, and now I have your ham. Call Mommy, pinhead, I don’t give a damn.”

    5
  • Meanwhile the character Sam convinced to try green eggs and ham referred to himself as pentacontacal Pete because he only spoke using the fifty words appearing in the book. "Sam,

  • said Arnold Jackson, "You little red haired twerp. When you showed up, our show jumped the shark." "Look Arnold, I'm no longer Sam. Ever heard of Salute My Shorts?"

    2
  • "No, but we're gonna kick your shorts," Arnold said. And so they chased the red-headed twerp around the fishmongery. Some of the pursuers had motorcycles, she he grabbed a vespa

    1
  • sidecar & chucked it &knocked him flat. The rest of the Hell'sAngels saw what happened and scrammed. The redhead walked over 2 Arnold, smiled, gave him a pack of mints, and left.

Dr. Seuss wrote "Green Eggs and Ham" after his publisher bet that he couldn't write a book using only 50 English words. http://articles.cnn.com/2009-01-23/living/mf.seuss.stories.behind_1_theodore-geisel-seuss-intent-dr-seuss?_s=PM:LIVING

His publisher was right. By page 17, he's used over 300 English words. He should have written most of the book in Arabic. لدينا المجيدة زعيم الله الله مايو-الحية إلى الأبد يقول لك يجب أن تأكل الأخضر والبيض هذه لحم الخنزير. أكل البيض الأخضر وهذه لحم الخنزير أو سوف تموت.
