  • " Good morning class. Tommorow we will be starting a social experiment. I want all of you to come to school dressed and acting like the opposite gender." The next day, everyone

    7
  • ignored the teachers request except gullible me. I was the actual subject of the social experiment. I wobbled on my girlfriends heels & snagged by stockings in the subway door.

    6
  • The subway doors snapped shut. No seats left. "Geez," I said out loud, not realizing the cameras were recording everything. "You'd think a gentleman would offer his seat to a lady!

    6
  • " But no one did because the passengers on the subway were not so sure I was a lady. I couldn't blame them really. Ever since I stopped shaving my armpits & with my deep voice, it

    6
  • was clear that even I wasn't sure which gender I identified with. I always wished that I could get away with not having to do my hair everyday, but I think

    6
  • gender identity is overrated. You can say you're one thing, but at the end of the day, it's solipsism. I feel like being a millionaire, but I have to work for a living. I'm no lady

    5
  • , but I'll be whatever your mind wants me to be. I could have a secret identity or act demure as all get-out. ...Huh? You just want me to fax my TPS report? That's women's work, go

    7
  • at milking that is. Sure, send a man to shoe a horse, or hoist a beaver, but milking goats and confusing sheep, why that's women's work. So don't try it here buddy or I'll slam you

    5
  • into the wall, hold some mistletoe over your head and…" He stared into space with desperate eyes. "Sorry about the sheep," I said. The discombobulated sheep eyed me suspiciously.

  • But then, the sheep, nervously at first, came up and surrounded me, gently baaing. The forgiving nature of sheep is a wonderful thing.

Gibber's line reminds me ot that bit in American Beauty when the next door neighbour tries to kiss Kevin Spacey - with added sheep.

I barely remember the film, but I found this in Wikipedia: 'Col. Fitts reacts with disgust to meeting Jim and Jim; he asks, "How come these faggots always have to rub it in your face? How can they be so shameless?" To which Ricky replies, "That's the thing, Dad—they don't feel like it's anything to be ashamed of." (Jody W.) Pennington (The History of Sex in American Film) argues that Col. Fitts' reaction is not homophobic, but an "anguished self-interrogation".' That sounds similar. Here I wanted to show that the first narrator's asshole-ish, pathologically rigid views of stereotypical gender roles is due to his own auto-homophobia and gender dysphoria. My fold slammed the first person narrator to third person, and the new narrator apologizes for confusing the sheep, which is "women's work." Am I giving an ambiguous message here? No. The new narrator (who's male sex is implied by the previous fold) felt comfortable filling a (so called) female gender role, and was merely apologizing to placate the psycho, and because he regretted ineptly upsetting the sheep when he only meant to confuse them. I chose confusing sheep over milking goats so that the juxtaposition of the discombobulated sheep with the previous narrator would emphasize his inner turmoil. Not that I actually put that much conscious thought into it. : )

https://youtube.com/watch?v=22VmzX35pvM&list=PL66347953C48EA255 This is the bit I was thinking about. The colonel's got desperate eyes & K Spacey says " I'm sorry" rather than "Sorry about the sheep". Maybe that's what reminded me. Just imagine there are 6 or 7 confused sheep in the garage too.

Yes, at the end the sheep's heads would turn to follow the colonel out of the garage, then they'd all look quizzically at Kevin Spacey for an answer he doesn't have.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=ojfmjE_2h-0 Video of confused sheep. I can't tell if the driver is a man or a woman.

Those sheep will be ruminating dubiously for hours on that question.
