She awoke in the dark room, her hands tied

  • She awoke in the dark room, her hands tied behind her back to a long, wooden pole, causing her to suspend in the air.

    1
  • She tried to speak but words could not escape the tape covering her mouth. She wiggled around, trying to free herself from the maze of ropes wrapped around her fragile body.

    2
  • Game over she thought, she was trapped in this world. She wasn't going to see her family or friends again or even Devon. Softly, she began to cry.

    1
  • What was a life without company? Locked in a world of shadows away from the people who would hold her and protect her. Her crying just amplified how alone she felt.

    2
  • But then her crying sent her amplified loneliness along wires to a transmitter which boosted the signal to 50,000 watts & broadcast it on the AM band from an antenna atop a tower.

    2
  • The voice carrried like ripples in a pond.

  • mainly because he had an electrified-rivet gun which he'd just fired at me. The man with the oval face turned and ran, but I knew I had to make him pay, so I gave chase.

    2
  • ..twenty dollars to off him. Chase is my sister's husband's uncle's next door neighbor who is also a hit man. I met Chase at Al's Bar & explained my hatred for the oval-faced man.

  • Once he'd killed him, an unexpected bonus was that I no longer hated all ovoids. So I can eat omelettes again.
