"So your the guy that bought the Nicolas

  • "So your the guy that bought the Nicolas Cage manor." said my new neighbor. "Why yes!" I said as I pulled my BMW into the gravel driveway. "Did they tell you it was haunted?"

    7
  • I scoffed heartily at his stories, tales of dead little girls and a wandering axe murderer. I parked my BMW and went into my new mansion. I wasn't going to be scoffing for long.

    7
  • In fact, it was only thirty seconds before I stopped scoffing, because that was the amount of time it took me to trip in the foot-thick Persian carpet. "OOF!" I grunted, falling..

    9
  • into the Persian carpet which was moist and smelled gamey like wet wool. The fibers in the carpet were thick and black, as I started to feel it I could sense

    8
  • that the carpet was being to lift. Could it be? Yes! It was a magic carpet. It wrung out the water from itself and beckoned me to get on. Why not? I stepped upon the fibers and

    8
  • felt a sublime woosh of air as it zipped through the open window out over the twinkling skyline of Manhattan. As I glided over Brooklyn Bridge, the carpet threads began unraveling

    7
  • . It was a race against time. If I could only reach Jenny's house before my carpet gave way. Jenny would know what to do. Jenny always knew what to do. Her house was in sight now.

    6
  • But my carpet did give way before I arrived. "Stupid carpet," I thought to myself. It was ugly now. Torn and dirty, it would barely do. She probably would not even accept it if I

    7
  • offered her a whole new world tour. My magic carpet was used and smelled of cigarettes, plus the bug shield was cracked. I brushed off soda cans as she approached. "Where to?"

    8
  • I couldn’t read the look in her eyes as she smiled and said, “Somewhere nothing is impossible, everybody takes care of each other, has everything they need and peace reigns.”

Yes, I agree! I love how buddyboy had absolutely no idea it was magic carpet and yet he keeps it going. What a wonderful ending, too. :-)
