We used to ride our bikes through the abandoned

  • We used to ride our bikes through the abandoned transmat docks, among rusty girders, phasing freight containers and veils of shimmering screams. One time at night Jimmy rode
  • right into the side of one of the freight containers. He wasn't wearing a helmet, and he died. The end.
  • "But what became of the freight container?" my sister asked. "He was my favorite character." She didn't appear any sleepier, so I pulled out the sequel, "The Freight Escape" by
  • the time we had to go to work, we had seen a marathon of "Steel Dan, action freight container." The one where it was smuggled into N. Korea by steamer was the best.
  • But my preference was for the ones smuggled under the sheets by the Cleveland Steamer.
  • He didn't care for being called that, but the name was so fitting. He was from Cleveland, and as rumor has it, he was steamy under the sheets. As least that's what I heard from
  • Don Quipunch and he'd know. He didn't just tilt at windmills let's say. Cleveland Steamer, he was a classier sort of guy; more discriminating in his tastes. Although, they say he
  • was misunderstood by women. He'd been named after his grandfather & "Steamer" was an Americanization of his real last name: Steamolanskitch. Cleveland Steamer was actually a nice
  • local delicacy served up by Clevelanders to visiting tourists. Cleveland Steamer is a chunky soup and it's difficult to stomach unless you're accustomed to its taste. A bit like
  • Haggis but with less vomit after taste. Rumours spread and tourists flocked from around the world to try the delicacy. People tried to recreate it but lacked the Clevelandness.

Wow...had to look up what a "Cleveland Steamer" was...and hmmmm... Think I'll go upstairs and put my Mary Poppins costume back on.

    Is it a soup?

Ummmm...not quite. Google it and you'll see...unless someone here would like to explain it to inatick. I'm too conservative. ;)

Well, a Cleveland Steamer could be soupy. It is thick like a soup. More chowder-esque.

A Cleveland Steamer is a mess of crawdads, crabs and oysters spread out on butcher paper. Everyone is given a galvanized cleaver and have at it.

I've never heard of a crawdad. Do they have crawmums too?

  9. Chaz May 05 2013 @ 10:12

If your mum was a small lobster or cray fish, maybe.

  10. PurpleProf May 05 2013 @ 13:41

That would be bad. This would mean your mum was always crabby.
