I was going to use the word "pogonip" but my train of thought derailed from the tracks (AGAIN) and I had somewhere to be so I panicked. Seriously though, we need cooler ice-based mythological creatures. Volcanoes have balrogs or something. Yetis aren't cool, elves are too jolly, and reindeer, it turns out, are actually real. Other than that, there's just Jack Frost, but he's a proper name like Santa, and not a creature.

I guess "The Thing from Another World" takes place in the arctic but that's not really an "ice-based mythical creature. Let's do some brain storming right here on folding story...

    Frosty the Snow Man?

  4. Zetawilk Feb 23 2013 @ 22:51

Does Frosty count as a tulpa, or merely a cursed object (magic hat)?

  5. jayursus Feb 23 2013 @ 22:58

Good question - I say tulpa, with the kids' belief making the hat "magical" afterward.

At any rate, he'd be some sort of snow golem. Which doesn't sound as tough as a full-on ice golem. Sounds like half-way between ice golem and ice elemental to me. Or maybe just the latter. Sounds too technical for me. But perhaps good material for a new foldable story!
