I am happy about starting a new job this

  • I am happy about starting a new job this week, but now I have to figure out how I can keep folding stories at my desk without anyone knowing. It is possible they may be monitoring

    11
  • my internet usage. I wear sensors for respiration, heart beat, skin conductance and EEG. The surveillance cam isn't aimed at my monitor. I will risk the job and log onto folding

    11
  • stories because I must make one more story about Detective Manatee. I owe it to him for the thing he did for me back in Jakarta. It's the one loyal thing I'll ever do in my life.

    12
  • What? You didn't know the good Detective solved cases in Indonesia? Then its my duty to relate the Great Komodo Caper. JMan was visiting a distant Dugong relative in Sumatra when

    11
  • a Komodo dragon made an appearance on the beach. Not a week later, a group of Dugong youth on their way to school went missing from that very same spot. JMan called on the wise Det

    11
  • who had a Fu Manchu mustache and answered questions with questions. JMan showed the wise Det the dragon tracks and asked if they had their culprit. The wise Det said "Is it a crime

    11
  • to dream a dream? Does this dragon track have to have a destination?" JMan ignored the wise Det & reached down to pick up a dragon scale covered in glinting runes. "To Norway!" gru

    10
  • nd smiled. He gave coy smile, "The train's Oslo but, we have to unpack the dead weight," he pointed to JMan. Det winked, "Got ya but he's my key witness. So out the window you go!"

    10
  • JMan thought he was flying for a moment, before he hit the hard, damp ground. He could hear Det laughing as the train disappeared around the bend. His wrist was sprained, but

    11
  • his dignity was intact, for now. He had landed at the bottom of a steep berm below the track bed next to a military truck loaded with backpack nukes and various delivery vectors.

Not unusual for a Det. Manatee tale - they have flukes. This will just have to be continued elsewhere...

Sidenote: I actually started this story when I began my new job, post cancer... As some of you recall, FS was a humor haven for me all those months I struggled so much. Y'all kept me laughing throughout! So when I finally went into remission and started a new position, I was WORRIED I wouldn't have time to play. I've found time and have even recruited a few colleagues to play. HA!

Hang in there, PurpleProf! You're absolutely amazing. I love your creativity and wit. If you think of my friend, please pray for her... her name is Tiffany. She just found out Wednesday that her cancer came back (third time.) I've been crying a lot.

  12. PurpleProf Mar 27 2017 @ 22:26

Awww, I am sorry, sundancer. Of course I will pray for Tiffany...and you too. :( Let me know if I can do anything. Send me a message if you want my name, email, contact info...if you think I can help.
